Joe Krutulis

2008-2009 Head of School

Beginning July 1, 2008 Mr. Joe Krutulis will become the GHS "Head of School".

Mr. Krutulis brings a wealth of relevant experience to GHS. With over 25 years of private school administrative and operational involvement, he has most recently served as Director of a Bay Area private school similar in demographics and philosophy to GHS. Additionally, he has served as Business Manager for Finance and Operations and Vice President of Educational Operations for private schools in both southern California and Florida. He has served as both a preschool and middle school Principal and has worked as a classroom instructor and activities director.

Mr. Krutulis’ educational background includes a BA in Business Administration, MA in Education, and he is a candidate for a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership. He has served as a board member on several professional education associations.

Connie Durante
Interim Academic Director

Connie oversees academic matters, curriculum development and academic assessment. Connie has taught at GHS since 2004 and will continue to teach middle school Language Arts. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and is a credentialed teacher.

Shaaron McFadden
Dean of Student Services

With Golden Hills School since 1999, Shaaron’s background includes 20 years of working with children, adolescents, and families in education, and in other public and private venues in California.

Shaaron holds a Masters Degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Developmental and Counseling Psychology. She is a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist, and holds Community College Instructor and a Counselor Credentials. She has taught at the college level and provides parent education and law enforcement training. She also has 14 years of experience as a private marriage, child, and family therapist and mediator.

Her favorite activities include reading, theater, sports and outdoor activities. Most of all she enjoys time with her family and friends

Geoff Kauppinen

Development Director

Mr. Kauppinen is the school's "Director of Development" as well as a middle school history and math teacher. He has taught at Golden Hills School since 2000. He graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Law and Society. He is in his second year as Director of Development. Mr. Kauppinen belongs to the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is spearheading the Scholarship Golf Tournament in addition to his other fundraising, public relations and marketing duties.

Terry Petlowany
Office Manager

Terry has been working at Golden Hills School since spring of 2001 and currently serves as Office Manager, Scrip Coordinator and Safety Committee Facilitator. Terry's previous experience is in office management, bookkeeping and special events coordination. Terry enjoys coordinating the staff act for the annual talent show and volunteers as a costumer, backstage coordinator and stage manager for local theater groups.
