Golden Hills School Volunteer Notes

GHS requires parents to volunteer 25 hours of time to the school each year. Since some jobs will be more popular than others the sooner you submit a volunteer form, the better the chance you will be able to participate in your event of choice. If your choices are unavailable you will be contacted and offered alternate choices. Please select events from the lists above to proceed to complete volunteer forms of your choice.

GHS request that at least 15 of the 25 required volunteer hours be dedicated to "fundraiser events". A notification of all of your volunteer commitments will be sent to you for you records. The Chairperson will notify you at least one month prior to each event. However, you may contact any Chairperson with any question(s) you may have by contacting the front office.

General Ways To Help

Recess Supervision

We need parent volunteers to help supervise recess: 1:25 - 2:25 for Kindergarten through 5th grade.  No experience is necessary and you earn "hour for hour" volunteer credits. Sign up in the front office Monday through Friday.

Food & Refreshment Donations For Special Events

Some of the events listed ask for water and food donations (e.g. Walk-A-Thon). For every five dollars you spend on purchased items, you will receive one hour of credit. Baking or cooking  for an event earns you two hours credit (e.g. cooking  for staff appreciation luncheon).

Driving/Chaperoning Field Trips

You can earn credits for time spent driving or chaperoning class field trips. NOTE: Not everyone who volunteers to chaperone or drive on the Middle School overnight field trips are able to attend. If more parents volunteer than are needed the administration will make the final decision on who will actually chaperone the field trip.

Primary Grades – Classroom Assistant

With teacher's approval, you will earn hour for hour credits for helping in the classroom or for taking teacher approved craft projects home to work on.

Parents Providing Expert Assistance To The School

With administration approval, any expert assistance you provide to the school or students will earn hour for hour credits. 6xamples: professional painter (painting classrooms or buildings); doctors or scientists (lecturing classes); professional artists (assisting in art class or with the auction projects. etc.)

Please Note

All Chairpersons and Teachers have sign-in books for events. Sign-in forms are also available in the front office. Please be responsible for recording your volunteer hours on one of these tracking forms. At the end of the each semester, you will be notified of your remaining hours to be completed by May 1st, 2007.

Thank you very much for the time you donate to help enrich your student’s time here at Golden Hills School.
