Eighth Grade

U.S. History
We are studying the Civil War, including the causess, causualties, and effects of the war.  We will watch the PG-13 Version of Glory in early to mid-March.  ** Please check SNAP grades weekly-it is the student's responsibility to make up missed work/tests-any work/test that is more than 2 days past due, will become a "zero"/0!!
Assignments
Students will have a variety of handouts, text work-reading/comprehension. Students should check the “white board” everyday for their assignment.
Tests
There will be at least 2 tests/quizes this month, but the dates depend upon logical points of completion. Currently we are looking at the 2nd week and 4th week of March for our exam dates.  This does not include a Map test where the students will demonstrate a knowledge of the USA as to which states belonged to the North or South.  There may be a test on the states and their capitals as well.
Project(s)
None Scheduled at this time, but subject to change.

Seventh Grade
Medieval History
We are learning about Medieval Europe; including the development of the various institutions(Catholic Church's influence upon government), feudalism, castles, etc.
Assignments Various RESG’s, read and answer questions in the text.  We will watch a variety of dvd clips from the "History Channel" including topics such as: The Black Plague, The Crusades, and even Dragons!
Tests Currently I expect for us to have at least one test this month; approximately the 2nd week.
Project(s)
We will have students work on a time line, in class that helps the student to understand the sequence of events(numerous) in Europe that shaped this dynamic period.

Sixth Grade
Ancient History
We are studying CHINA during ancient times, and then will move on to the ancient people of America.  We may begin Ancient Greece by the end of the month.
Assignments
A variety of text and writing assignments will be completed this month.  We are working on our essay skills as well.
Tests
There will be at least one test on the subject matter we cover this month.  There will be a map test on Asia and the Americas in late March.
