6th Grade:
ROME: Students learn how Rome became the most powerful empire of it's time. Additionally, students learn how our system of government reflects Rome's "new" government. Students will learn about: 3 branches of government, Republic vs. Direct Democracy, rule of law, etc. We will watch an edited version(PG) of Gladiator-with a writing assignment to follow.
Tests:
Students will be tested after chapter readings(quizes) and at the end of the Unit-exams of 25-50 questions; including short answer and essay questions.
Projects:
Students are currently working on finishing a "city-state" of Greece project.
7th Grade:
Students have completed their unit on Europe and are moving onto the Reformation/Renaissance; we will finish w/ exploration.
Tests:
reading quizes at end of chapter; Unit exam at end of appropriate time.
Projects:
None planned for May
8th Grade:
We have completed our unit on Westward Movement/Manifest Destiny; moving onto the Industrial Revolution, Big Cities, "progressives"(Teddy Roosevelt); WW I and WW II
Tests:
We will have several reading quizes and a "take home final"
Projects:
No new projects for May(Students will finish an in class project about the "Code of the West"
