The GHS Wrestling team had a dilemma. No "on campus" space was available for practice. It looked like the wrestling team was in trouble until Gary Merlo, our neighbor and owner of El Dorado Hills West Coast Martial Arts heard about the problem from Coach Dave Ridge.  Gary generously offered to provide practice/workout space for the Golden Hills Wrestling Team at no cost to GHS.

Many Golden Hills parents are already familiar with the school located 1132 Suncast Lane (on the same street and less than a block from GHS). Gary and his instructors, Jonathon Calizar and Sierra Heald, adhere to a character based educational philosophy which shares many similarities with ours. Several GHS students already take martial arts training at West Coast Martial Arts where discipline and respect for others are key behaviors emphasized by the school.
