We have all heard local advertisements stating that we should all support our local economy, what about supporting other GHS families? Now there will be a central place where GHS families can come together and rally support for the concept.
The new GHS Family Owned Business pages in the 2010/2011 Family Directory will allow GHS family owned business to showcase their businesses, allowing other GHS families to easily find them. The pages will include a business card from each participating GHS family business. Hopefully, the GHS Family Owned Business pages will nurture the buy-local concept and bring more exposure for the businesses listed.
If you are a GHS Family Owned Business owner and would like to showcase your business in the 2010/2011 Family Directory, please bring your business card and a check for $50 to the GHS front office by Wednesday, September 8th. If you have any questions, please email

Thank you to everyone who attended Back to School Night! If you missed attending, check in with your student’s teacher to pick up any information you did not receive. Don’t forget to turn in your paperwork and classroom expenses directly to your child’s teacher. |

The GHS Elementary Drama Club is proud to announce its upcoming show this Fall,
“Once Upon a Daydream”
A feel-good story about believing in yourself!
“Once Upon a Daydream” is a children’s musical written by El Dorado Hills resident Tom Farmer, with music and lyrics by our very own Mike Shields. This musical has been performed by The El Dorado Children’s Music Theatre and by Stage 9 Theatre in Folsom. It is a story of a young boy named Patrick who doesn’t quite fit in. He loves reading and animals, but his parents wish him to be more like his soccer star sister and his popular older brother. One day at the zoo Patrick falls asleep on a park bench and awakens to a world full of walking, talking animals. A special bond develops between Patrick and a clumsy camel named Allie as they work together toward a common goal.
Mr. Mike will again be directing the after school enrichment drama club every Monday for eleven weeks starting August 23rd. Come join the fun while we act, sing and dance our way through “Once Upon a Daydream.”
Here are all of the details: • This show is for all GHS elementary students - Kindergarten through 5th grade • Rehearsals will be held every Monday - August 23rd through November 8th from 3:05pm to 5:00pm at GHS (Except for Labor Day, Monday, September 6th) • Auditions will take place on the first Monday rehearsal (Everyone who signs up for the drama club is guaranteed a part in the musical, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible because space is limited.) • There will be a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m. • School performance will be on Friday, November 12th • Performance for family and friends will be on Saturday, November 13th at 6:00pm • Cost - $160 per actor (this includes costumes)
If your child is interested in being a part of our production of “Once Upon a Daydream,” please email Mike Shields at

Coming soon! You will be able to drop-off and pick-up your scrip orders when you drop-off and pick-up your children. We are offering a new service for a limited time - starting November 9 and ending December 18 - to help you meet your scrip commitment with the upcoming holidays. Here is how it will work: - On Monday mornings, simply hand your scrip order to a staff member at drop off. Orders must be paid in full when placed, with cash, check or credit card. Scrip order forms are available on the GHS website or in the Front Office - On Friday afternoons, a staff member will hand you your scrip at pick-up. If you park your car, simply walk over to the car line to receive your scrip. With this schedule, you will receive a completely filled order on Friday (except in rare instance of a vendor back-order). You are always welcome to come in to the Front Office to buy your scrip. GHS raises an average of $30,000 per year through our scrip program, which helps support many of our activities. Remember, all scrip cards from merchants that give a rebate of less than 5% must be purchased with a check or cash. It costs GHS approximately 2.25% of the purchase price to process credit card orders, so checks or cash are always appreciated. If you have any questions about the scrip program, please feel free to contact the Front Office. Scrip Order Form
