Room Parent responsibilities are divided into two categories. Their primary role is to provide support to the teacher in the classroom. In doing so, the Room Parents work closely with the teachers to ensure that they have parent support for daily classroom operations and special events. Their second role is to support the Parent Organization and Administration. This involves serving as a source of general information about volunteer activities at GHS – with the goal of encouraging broad participation.

Your child’s classroom also offers plenty of chances to get your volunteer hours. The needs of each class are different. Teachers typically present many of their volunteer needs during Back to School Night at the beginning of the school year. Please see your teacher or room parent for more information.
Parent volunteers are needed to supervise lunch and recess for Kindergarten thru 5th grade. Time slots are available Monday thru Friday and are coordinated by Lisa Peters at the Front Desk.
The GHS Athletic Program has always benefitted from the support of many dedicated parents. Volunteers are needed to coordinate the snack bar with the Student Leadership Core, team refreshments and team parties. We can also use event and team photographers and coaches.
